RDMA over Converged Ethernet (RoCE) adopted modern data transfers into Ethernet systems about a decade ago. But Ethernet technology seems to be falling back when compared to other networks. Will we all have to deploy two networks now? A fast backend accelerator network and a slow frontend network, or can we converge the slow Ethernet to a fast unified network to support existing and emerging workloads?
